Throw Blankets: How to style them

Throws are a little complicated but extremely versatile. They are great if you want to give your place an aesthetic touch, or stay warm and snuggle on the sofa or your bed. Throws are a type of blanket but not every blanket is a throw. So, how to style something this confusing? Don’t worry, we got you. Throws don’t only make your space comfy but add colour, patterns and texture.  Here are ways you can style your throw blanket and use them as a piece of home decor.

  1. Sofa

The sofa is one of the most preferred places to put a comfortable throw, but it may also be difficult to style for certain individuals. It can be thrown casually for a more natural style or folded for a more fresh aesthetic or you can also place a pillow on top of it to keep it in place. Throws can also be placed on the arm or the back of the sofa. It is a visual treat for everyone who enters your living room.

  1. Beds

Another popular spot for a throw is at the foot of a bed. You'll be disappointed to learn that a throw isn't the only blanket that goes across the bottom of your bed. A standard throw is insufficient to cover the entire bottom of your bed. This should only be used for decoration and to give texture. A throw can be layered on top of a quilt, blanket, or bedspread to give it more stability while also adding a burst of colour.

3. Bench and Chairs

Throws make a chair look more welcoming as if you could cuddle up in it right away. It can be placed on either the seat cushion or the arm, or both. You might also make a more organic appearing throw or fold it, just like the couch throw. You can drape it over the arm if you want a clean-cut look. A bench throw provides a lot of texture and makes it look like a pleasant lounging place that can be used independently. And, as always, remember that you have the option of folding or going more organic. It's entirely up to you.

  1. Secret storage

Many people don’t like their throws to be placed on their furniture because of various reasons. The throw might be too big for them or would not match their aesthetic. If you are one of those, you can always go for secret storage. Add a storage basket near your couch, bed, bench or chair with a throw blanket in it. It will act as an element of surprise and you can always be cosy without having to style that throw of yours.
