6 ways to style your kaftan

A kaftan, also known as a caftan, is a type of robe or tunic that has been worn for thousands of years in a variety of cultures around the world and is of Asian origin. An ankle-length kaftan with long, flowing sleeves is a typical kaftan. This loose-fitting garment originated as a long, buttoned-up robe used mostly by men in the Middle East. Kaftans were traditionally made of silk or cotton and had a belt around the waist as well as elbow-length sleeves. It was such an expensive and cherished item of clothing that it was handed to senior Ottoman Empire officials during major religious festivals or to generals who had prevailed in battle. Things changed and kaftan is no longer regarded as an expensive piece of clothing that can be owned by a small percentage of society. So, how to style this versatile piece of clothing? Let us see.

  1. To the beach

It is currently one of the most popular ways to wear a kaftan. Use it as a beach coverup to instantly elevate your beachwear to the next level. A kaftan made of a light, breezy fabric is a great way to complement your swimsuit or bikini. A bright printed maxi kaftan would look great on your daily beach walks. Given that it is not a fitted garment, you can wear it and be confident that you will stay cool when dipping your toes in the sand. A kaftan will help you look comfortable while staying cool and displaying just as much skin as you feel happy with if you are body conscious (we believe every body is beautiful and a work of art).

  1. With a jacket

Kaftans look wonderful on practically every woman, regardless of shape or size, and can assist in disguising any part of the body you don't want to draw attention to, depending on your preference. Don't be afraid to layer with a coat, leather jacket, gloves, and a beanie on those very chilly days. It may add an extra element of elegance to your ensemble. Wear a thermal singlet beneath on those freezing days. You can't see it because of the kaftan, which also keeps your body warm.

  1. Jewellery

Wear a lot of blingy necklaces and earrings, the more the merrier! Add some delicate jewellery for those laid-back lunch outings, and you've got yourself a look. For individuals with deep neck kaftans, a stacked choker necklace is a good option. Add a pair of hoop earrings and you're ready to go.

  1. With the right Footwear

Kaftans are recognised for being statement pieces, which means they don't require much accessorising to look amazing. Flats, jewelled or strappy sandals, and open toe heels all work well with caftans. Put on a pair of flat sandals and you've got yourself the appearance you've been looking for! Jewelled sandals with heels can help you create a stylish statement while also adding to the opulence of your outfit. Boots transition the attire from summer to winter and give it a stylish touch. Look for black boots that will go with your outfit.

  1. Add a belt

Adding a belt to a kaftan dress gives it a more structured appearance. It provides a more defined profile by cinching up the cloth with a beautiful belt. It dresses up your clothing and provides a nicely designed appearance when coupled with neutral accessories. Layering in black or metallic accessories, depending on your dress level, can dress things up, or try exploring new trends in accessories for a more relaxed atmosphere.

  1. Wear it as it is

Kaftans can be worn on their own as well. They don't require much in the way of styling or accessorising. Kaftan dresses are light and airy, and they will make you feel at ease. Kaftan dresses are also ideal for wearing at night. These dresses are composed of soft fabrics like polyester and cotton, and the material used in these loose-fitting dresses is quite kind on the skin. Put on your favourite comfy kaftan, grab a pillow or a throw, and relax for a lounging experience.
